Ladies Pairs Final Session 2 5

Sabine Auken and Daniela von Arnim of Germany are European champions for the third time after their clear victory in the Ladies Pairs competition Tuesday. They were followed in the general classification by Tiziana Rosi and Antonina Bacoccoli of Italy, while third place honors went to Daniela Birman and Ruth Liberman of Israel.

The Ladies Pairs Championship is a regular biennial event of the European Calendar, held in conjunction with the European Teams Championships. The competition consists of the qualifying stage, followed by the final and a consolation event for those failing to qualify.

The battle continued in the Open series of national teams Tuesday, with Norway emerging as the new leader at the end of the day. The Norwegians had a very successful day, beating Liechtenstein and prevailing over Poland with 20-10.

Russia started well beating England but then they practically drew Luxembourg to end the day in second position. Third is France, followed by Greece and Poland in the remaining two qualifying positions for the World Zonal Championship (Bermuda Bowl).
