RULES & REGULATIONS
 
I.General Statement
01.Atlantic Trade - Bridge Cup will be held 25th-27th May 2007., Hotel Imperijal, Opatija.
02.In open competition will participate 12 teams and 6 teams will participate in ladies competition
(Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Hungary and Poland).
03.On welcome cocktail, teams in open competition will be divided into 2 groups
(3 teams from "A" and 3 teams from "B" randomly).
04."A" group: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Poland and
"B" group: Bosnia, Cro Juniors, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia.
05.Atlantic Trade - Bridge Cup will be played:
   - Laws of Duplicate Contract Bridge, 1997,
   - EBL Alerting Policy,
   - EBL Systems Policy.
06.Coups will be awarded for 3 best teams.
07.The entry fee is 300€ per team.
08.Total amount collected will be given as prize money for the best three teams in both competitions:
Open series:
   I. 1800 €
   II. 1200 €
   III. 600 €
Ladies series:
   I. 900 €
   II. 600 €
   III. 300 €
II. Format
09Round Robin will be played with 10 boards, IMP/VP up to 16:0.
10Matches will be played:
1st round6-1, 5-2, 4-3
2nd round1-5, 2-4, 3-6
3rd round4-1, 3-2, 6-5
4th round1-3, 2-6, 5-4
5th round2-1, 6-4, 5-3

13If two teams in the group after RR will have the same number of VP will decide:
- direct match
- IMPs
14After RR in open series - SF = A1 vs. B2, B1 vs. A2, in ladies series - SF = 1 vs. 4, 2 vs. 3
15Semifinal will be played with 24 boards (12+12).
16If both teams after SF or F will have same number of imps will decide:
   - better place after RR
   - better VP after RR
   - better IMPs after RR
   - 2 extra boards (1 in each room) until we get the winner
17Ladies competition will play one match for 5th place (12 boards)
18Open competition will play 2 matches for the 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th place.
After RR, 1st match will be played (A3-B4, B3-A4, A5-B6, B5-A6) and 2nd match will play winners (12 boards)
19Final and match for 3rd place will be played with 32 boards (16+16).
III. Systems, Convention cards, Time penalties, Technical aspects
20.All systems are allowed (the pair using Brown Sticker conventions must inform the opponents in writing about their
counter-defense at the table and have to give one copy to the Tournament Director).
21.Every pair has to bring 2 conventional cards.
22.Players are not authorized to look at their system during the auction or the play.
23.Opening 1NT and 2NT may open with small singleton if it's in convectional card; tolerance is 1 hcp and singleton A or K.
24.At the beginning of every round the Tournament Director will announce the time by which the round must be completed.
For a ten board match this will be one hour and 15 minutes, for 12 board match this will be 1 hour and 30 minutes
and for 16 board match this will be 2 hours after the start of a round.
Any team that is not seated and ready to play at the start of a period of play will be fined 1VP
and each completed period of 5 minutes there after a further 1VP.
Players are kindly requested to be seated 5 min before the scheduled start of play.
25.If at the end of the allocated time play has not been completed fines will be imposed as follows:
0 - 5 min:1 VP (both sides 0.5 VP)
6 - 10 min:2 VP (both sides 1 VP)
11 - 15 min:4 VP (both sides 2 VP)
16 - 20 min:6 VP (both sides 3 VP)
21 - 25 min:10 VP (both sides 5 VP)
26 and more:Appeal Committee may impose a more several penalty.
26.The boards have been pre-dealt and duplicated.
27.Both competitions play same boards.
28.Screens will be used during the Tournament.
29.An electronic device (Bridgemate) will be used through the Tournament.
30.At each table North is responsible for completing the official score-card,
which should be compared and collected at the end of each match.
31.Every round one match will be broadcasted by BBO.
32.Smoking is prohibited in the playing area.
33.The consumption of alcoholic beverages of any nature is prohibited.
34.Mobile phones and electronic devices may not be brought into the playing area.
IV. APPEALS COMMITTEE, DIRECTORS, IT
35.A team may appeal against the ruling of a Tournament Director provided that the appeal is made within 10 minutes of
receiving the ruling or 10 minutes of the conclusion of the match. The appellant must deposit 200kn to the
Tournament Director. Deposits will be refunded if the appellant's case is judged to have merit.
36.The Appeal Committee will be known before starts of the Tournament.
37.Chief Tournament Director is Slawek Latala responsible for all rules and regulations and his decisions are final.
38.Second Tournament Director is Vanja Grahek.
39.It Manager is Maciej Czajkowski responsible for running scores posted in Internet.
40.These rules and regulations may be amended and augmented at the discretion of HBS,
if circumstances so warrant so as to ensure the smooth efficient and enjoyable running the Tournament.
