Poland
continues to lead the Girls series but did not have things quite their
own way yesterday. They lead on 146.5 VPs from seven matches, with the
holders, Netherlands, coming up close behind on 138. On Friday,
Netherlands scored 70 VPs out of 75, defeating Italy 22-8, Turkey 25-0,
and Denmark 23-7. Sweden and Germany tie for third with 124, and Israel
comes next on 120.5. It feels as though we have only just begun, yet
there are only four rounds to go in the Girls Championship.
In the Juniors, Norway continues to get big win sin every match,
scoring another 71 VPs on the day, with 21-9 against Romania, 25-2
against Greece and 25-5 against Austria. After six matches Norway has
dropped only 8 VPs and leads with 142, from Netherlands 116.5, Russia
110.5, Italy 107 and Sweden 106.5. The rest of the field will be hoping
that the rest day breaks the Norwegians’ rhythm.
