2nd Information letter
Dear President and Friend,
I am very pleased to confirm that the 9th European
Youth Bridge Pairs Championship will be held at
GEM Hotel and Recreational Centre
Wroclaw, Poland
But unfortunately, due to force majeur, we had to
postpone of one day the start and the end of the event and
consequently the Championship will be held on
15th to
18th July 2008
with the following modified programme:
• Opening Ceremony 19.30 - Tuesday 15th
July
• Qualification Sessions 10.00 - Wednesday 16th
July
• Semi-final Sessions 10.00 - Thursday 17th
July
• Final Sessions 10.00 - Friday 18th
July
• Closing Ceremony & Prize Giving 20.00 -
Friday 18th July
As promised, I inform you about the Hotel
Accommodation and for your convenience I repeat all the
information previously sent.
Meals & Hotel Accommodation
Thanks to the Polish Bridge Union, we have been able
to arrange meals and hotel Accommodation at special rates.
Meals:
All the meals (lunch and dinner) will be eaten at the
venue (GEM Recreational Centre) with a daily cost of 80 PLN (about
22,50 €, being 1 € = 3,60 PLN).
Accommodation (B&B):
GEM Hotel: The accommodation at GEM Hotel (all room
with bathrooms-bath or showers) in double room (B&B) costs 140 PLN
(about 39 €) per person per day.
The accommodation at GEM Hotel in triple room
(B&B) costs 120 PLN (about 33,50 €) per person per day.
The daily cost (B&B and meals) per one person in
double room is 220 (140+80) PLN (about 61 €) per day.
The daily cost (B&B and meals) per one person in
triple room is 200 (120+80) PLN (about 55 €) per day.
Student Hostel: The accommodation at the Student
Hostel (higher standard – rooms with two beds and bathroom)
(B&B) costs 70 PLN (about 20 €) per person per day The
accommodation at the Student Hostel (lower standard – rooms with
three beds no bathroom) (B&B) costs 50 PLN (about 14 €) per
person per day
The daily cost (B&B and meals) per one person in
double room is 150 (70+80) PLN (about 42 €) per day.
The daily cost (B&B and meals) per one person in
triple room is 130 (50+80) PLN (about 36 €) per day.

Format of the Championships
There will be three series in the Championship: Under
26 Open pairs, Under 26 Girls Pairs and Under 21 Pairs. All three
series are for National Pairs (i.e. both players must come from the
same NBO; transnational pairs are not permitted).
In all three series the Qualification rounds will
consist of 6 x 10 board sessions (2 boards per table, using a Mitchell
movement)
At the end of the qualification rounds, in all series,
the leading 50% of the field will qualify for Semi-final A and the
other 50% for Semi-final B. Both semi-finals will consist of 6 x 10
board sessions (2 boards per table, using a Mitchell movement) At the
end of the semi-finals the highest-ranked pairs from semi-final A (25
in the Under 26 Open and 16 in the Under 26 Girls & Under 21) and
the highest ranked pairs from the semi-final B (5 in the Under 26 Open
and 4 in the Under 26 Girls & Under 21) will qualify for the A
Final; the other pairs will play in the B Final.
In all series the A Final will be played using
Barometer Scoring (58 boards – two per table - in Under 26 Open
and 57 - three per table - in Under 26 Girls & Under 21); in the B
Final 30 boards (3 x 10 board sessions) will be played using a
Mitchell movement.
In the A Final screens will be used.

Right of entry
Bridge players (registered members of EBL NBOs), in
good standing with their Federation and born on 1st January
1983 or later (Under 26 Open & Girls) and on 1st January
1988 or later (Under 21) are entitled to participate. There will be no
restrictions on numbers of entries per NBO.
Each member NBO, being up to date with the payment of
its dues (including the 2008 dues) to the EBL is authorized to enter
pairs. Countries must have paid the entry fee and be up to date with
the payment of the dues to the EBL before they can participate in the
Championship.
In any case participants must be nominated by their
NBO and all such nominations are subject to authorisation by the EBL
Credentials Committee.

Registration of pairs for all the series, which
must be from the Federation, should be sent, before 31st
May 2008 and sent to:

The entry fees are € 150 per pair.

Dress Code
The EBL has a policy which seeks to encourage
Federations to provide Teams, which participate in European
Championships, to be dressed in appropriate uniforms which incorporate
a badge or emblem identifying the country which those players
represent.
Everyone entering the playing rooms is obliged to wear
the official identification badge provided by the organisation. In
case of loss the organisation will provide a duplicate badge at a cost
of € 5,00
All players, captains and coaches of participating
teams are required to wear T-shirts, polo shirts, shirts or blouses
that are of the same colour and contain the Federation’s logo.
