While Italy still leads the Junior series, it is
by but half-a-VP from defending champions, Poland. The Poles had a
great day yesterday, scoring 72 VPs out of a possible 75, including
a crucial 24-6 win against the host nation. The leading scores are
Italy 289.5, Poland 289, Norway 283, Hungary 278.5, England 277,
France 260, Netherlands 250, Israel 246. The Polish Schools team
had a mixed day but still emerged in the lead after taking 56 VPs
from two wins and one defeat. The defeat came against second-placed
Israel, while one of the wins was over third-placed Latvia, so 56
VPs was not a bad return from a very tough day for the Poles. It is
tight at the top, with Poland on 118, Israel 114, Latvia and Sweden
111, Italy 107 and Netherlands 104. |
